Guest Speaker Reactions: Nclud
Nclud is a rock da house web design firm from DC. They are very active in the DC web community, attending many of the general web functions in the area like Refresh DC, Barcamp DC, and many others.
Their team consists of Martin Ringlein, Alex Giron, Dan Drinkard, Doris Steere, and Michael Dick. Their team is a rock solid group of designers and one programmer (Hi Dan) but all of them know their way around Photoshop and can get under the hood for some fun backend development.
Since they brought the whole team (except Michael, he's still finishing school out west) we pulled varying IT students from the school instead of just letting them speak to the Advanced Web students. The coolest part was that Nclud contacted me before and asked what we were talking about in the Advanced Web class so they could gear their presentation towards that. Welp, at the time the students were creating personal portfolio sites so Nclud geared the entire presentation to considerations for a personal portfolio. I mean they covered everything; finding your voice and planning, design, CMS, scripting, and web services that can be used. They spoke for about 45 minutes which gave each of them a chance to speak. The students have so much to learn from people like this and it was great that their presentation spoke to so many levels of creating a portfolio.
They did a great job and I'm happy they are enthusiastic to continue coming back (they've now come 2 years in a row). A big thank you to them!
