Guest Speaker Reactions: Zac Gordon
Zac Gordon is a high school teacher at Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. I invited him to speak because he brings a different perspective to the same genre and my students had already met him and his students during the FOWD field trip. Another good reason I invited him was because I was out that week and I knew he would be a great fit and could manage the classroom effectively.
Zac decided to take a hands on approach with the students and walk them through the steps of setting up a personal blog using Expression Engine. This wasn’t a blog they kept long term, just a quick how to in one day, one period of 45 minutes actually. On all accounts I can say that the students and the substitute teacher all said how he had done a great job and the students were engaged the entire time. I also think that they (the students) were refreshed with the change of pace in regard to his presentation style. Most presentations are lecture style and this one got them moving and shaking on the computer. Zac is a fabulous teacher and we were very glad to host him. Many thanks Zac!
