If you are reading this that means that my child is being born (Woohoo!).  I am planning to be absent 10 school days.  Follow the subs instructions, work diligently, and be polite to your fellow students.

  1. You will be working on Part 1 of the Caricature assignment for 7 days.
  2. You need turn this file in electronically and printed.  When turning in Electronically name the file WD-period-brown-lastname,firstname-caricature-part1.png
  3. On day 8 you will begin working on Part 2 of the Caricature Assignment.
  4. Read the assignment carefully and take your time in designing the emotions.  It is imperative that you use Fireworks for this assignment.
  5. I should be back before this is turned in, however, just in case, print and turn in electronically.  Put all electronic files in one folder and copy the entire folder into my hand in.
  6. Don’t rush, take your time, and have fun with this assignment.

Sorry, I’m out sick again today!

  1. Complete all of the following by the end of the period:
    1. Create an HTML document called form1.html, with comments at the top
    2. Create a stylesheet called style.css with comments at the top and link the two files together
    3. Create a division with an id of "content" that will hold everything we put into the page.
    4. Read the W3Schools Forms Tutorial and add a form to your page that has a single line of text input, a checkbox, radio buttons, a drop down menu, and a textarea.  Make this form an application to work for you, ask appropriate questions.

  4. Make a three column, forty two row table, label the first column Term, second column My Definition, and third Actual Definition
  5. Add all of the terms from the vocabulary sheet in the terms column, then look up or fill in the My Definition column.
  6. As a class we will review and add the Actual Definition column

  1. Now, that you are kung fu masters of the pixel and favicons you have a real challenge.
  2. Instead of making a favicon you will be making a canvas that is 130px wide x 190px tall at 300 resolution
  3. You will be making a pixel portrait of someone.  You can make a celebrity, a family member, or yourself. (if you want to do yourself, let me know, I can probably get a picture of you for you)
  4. To get a general idea of what I mean, see shaun inman’s site and this tutorial.

  1. Ok, so your first Favicon challenge.  In the spirit of the holidays lets make a favicon for the holidays.
  2. Make a new 16px x 16px canvas at 300 resolution
  3. You need to create a holiday favicon, it can be anything holiday related; Santa’s face, a menorah, a candle, Rudolph, a roast turkey, a family, etc.  Do what you see fit!

  1. Typography Assignment:

    Due: Wed, Nov 26th, 2008

    Assignment: Pick an animal; using only type create the animal in your favorite Digital Design Program (Photoshop or Fireworks). You may only use the letters in the name of the animal, so if you are making a crab you can only use C, R, A, and B. But you can use each letter as many times as you want. Keep the Elements of Art in mind; use them as well to create a stunning piece. [Line, Shape, Color, Value, Form, Texture, and Space] Other than the actual animal being type you can do whatever you want with the rest of the piece, in other words you are not limited to type with the rest.

    Dimensions: I suggest 11in x 8.5in (you decide on landscape or portrait) so that it can be printed easily, but it is up to you. No matter what use a resolution of 300px/in.
